The Church of Pentecost is a vibrant Classical Pentecostal denomination with its headquarters in Accra, Ghana. It was founded in 1953 through the ministry of an Irish missionary, Rev. James McKeown, who went to the then Gold Coast, now Ghana, in 1937.
As of December 2019, the church had spread to 101 countries in every continent, with a global membership of about 3.5 million.
Beliefs, Ideology, Doctrines and Philosophy of The Church of Pentecost:
The Church of Pentecost, just like many other organizations, especially religious, ideological and philosophical groups, has doctrines. These are as set of beliefs which the church holds dear and cherish to be true. These beliefs are often referred to as its Tenets.
Why Tenets of The Church of Pentecost:
In christianity, the tenets of a church is a statement of its major doctrinal beliefs.
Beliefs | Tenets of The Church of Pentecost Book:
This book, therefore, deals with the major doctrinal beliefs of The Church of Pentecost. It provides a comprehensive and scholarly understanding of each of the eleven major biblical doctrines cherished by the church.
The book, however, goes beyond being just a statement of a denomination’s doctrinal beliefs. Since Pentecostals came out of the Evangelicals, the doctrinal beliefs of the church cut across those of mainline Evangelicalism, with the major point of divergence being Holy Spirit baptism and speaking in tongues.
Consequently, this bookwould be a rich resource material for Christians of all persuasions, especially those of Pentecostal and Charismatic traditions, to understand and contend for our rich faith.
Students of Systematic Theology will find this book most suitable for their studies. For pastors and church leaders, this bookis a handbook to help establish the root your members in the faith.

Reasons Behind The Split Between The Church of Pentecost And The Apostolic Church:
Pastor McKeown came to nurture a group of believers of the Apostolic Faith yearning for the fruit and power of the Holy Spirit. The group was based in Asamankese, a town in the Eastern Region of Ghana led by one Peter Newman Anim.
The group split in 1939 under doctrinal differences into the Christ Apostolic Church and the Apostolic Church, Gold Coast. The latter grew rapidly under Pastor James Mckeown.
A Constitutional crisis in the Church in 1953 led to the founding of the Gold Coast Apostolic Church with Pastor James Mckeown as leader.
On the Gold Coast’s attainment of independence in 1957 and its adoption of the name Ghana, the Gold Coast Apostolic Church was renamed the Ghana Apostolic Church. The Church later adopted the name “The Church of Pentecost” on August 1, 1962.
