Alan Kyerematen, the leader of the Movement for Change, has emphasized the need for designated agricultural hubs across Northern Ghana as a key component of his Great Transformational Plan (GTP)
In a recent interview, Kyerematen detailed his vision for optimizing cereal production and enhancing aquaculture
in the country, particularly in the five regions of the north.
Kyerematen pointed out that the northern regions, which he has extensively toured, hold the potential to become
the epicenter of cereal production, including beans, millet, and sorghum. He explained that this area, often referred to as the breadbasket of Ghana, could significantly contribute to the nation's food security if properly developed.
In addition to the focus on cereals, Kyerematen proposed that the Oti Region be developed into a hub for inland
fishing, aquaculture, and fish processing, leveraging the natural resources of the Volta Lake.

He also identified Bono East and Western North as ideal regions for tree crop production, positioning them as the new tree crop production and processing hubs for West Africa.
Alan's GTP is not just about local development but also aims to position Ghana as a key player in West Africa's agricultural industry. 

By identifying and enhancing the comparative advantages of each region, Kyerematen believes that Ghana can become a true gateway to the West African market.
His proposals form a crucial part of his broader vision for transforming Ghana's economy through strategic
regional development, and he has vowed to implement these plans if given the opportunity to lead the country.
